Chris Harrington
(ハリントン・クリス、通称「クリス」)
1968年アメリカ・ロードアイランド州生まれ。1988年から米第七艦隊音楽隊の隊員として日本に配属され、92年に引退してから日本において様々な業種に携わる。現在は自営業で日英翻訳(ビジネス・IT・一般)が専門。仕事以外には地方における地域活性化にフォーカス。
先端テックのDIY集団のハッカーファームの設立メンバー、コミュニティースペースの里山デザインファクトリーの運営者。
My professional experience includes numerous business and web related activities in Japan, including web site planning, development, and coding (server and client), basic database development, some software application development, Japanese interactive TV program planning and interactive broadcast application coding (in Japan’s proprietary BML/Ecma Script format), interface design, sales and marketing, project and team management, brief experience as a company director, planning and executing symposiums for trade organisations and companies, Japanese to English interpretation and translation, public speaking, backstage coordination for entertainment events, performing music, and even narration and modeling.
I currently focus on local community development as an avocation while earning as a freelance Japanese to English translator. I also play Saxaphone in the band Love Farmers, Tokiko Katoh’s latest unit (Tokiko Katoh has been a household name in Japan as a pop singer/songwriter since the 60s).
Specialties: Bilingual speaking and reading/writing ability in English (native) and Japanese (near native), experienced in Japanese business and social etiquette.
